Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour Foundation of the pastry.
  • 1 cup Cold Butter Unsalted, cut into small cubes.
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar For the dough.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Cold Water Add gradually to form dough.

Filling Ingredients

  • 3 cups Diced Apples Peeled and cored, about 3-4 medium apples.
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar For the filling.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Adds warmth and depth.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice Prevents browning of apples.

Egg Wash

  • 1 large Egg Mixed with a tablespoon of water.

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Whisk together.
  • Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough starts to come together. Form into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, combine diced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss until well-coated.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into 4-inch squares.
  • Place a tablespoon of apple filling in the center of each square. Fold the dough over to form a triangle and seal the edges.
  • Transfer to the baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding dried cranberries or using different apple varieties.
