  • 1 pound Ground Beef Lean ground beef for a rich flavor.
  • 1 medium Onion Diced.
  • 2 medium Carrots Sliced.
  • 1 stalk Celery Chopped.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth For a rich filling.
  • 1 cup Frozen Mixed Vegetables Such as peas and corn.
  • 2 tablespoons Flour All-purpose flour to thicken.

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Salt To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme For flavor.

Crust

  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry Thawed according to package instructions.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and continue to sauté for an additional minute.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the chopped carrots and celery. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mixture, stirring well to coat.
  • Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer. Stir continuously until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add frozen mixed vegetables, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and remove from heat.
  • Transfer the beef mixture into a baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet and place it over the filling. Seal the edges.
  • Make a few slits in the top of the pastry to allow steam to escape.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  • Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For variations, consider adding Worcestershire sauce, different vegetables, or using a biscuit topping instead of puff pastry.
