Equipment

  • Large Skillet or Wok
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

Beef (sirloin or flank steak)

  • 1 pound Beef (sirloin or flank steak), sliced thinly For optimal tenderness and quick cooking.

Broccoli

  • 2 cups Broccoli florets Fresh for crunch and nutrition.

Garlic

  • 2-3 cloves Garlic, minced For aromatic depth.

Sauces

  • 1/4 cup Low-sodium soy sauce For balanced salty taste.
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster sauce Adds rich umami flavor.
  • 1-2 tablespoons Sesame oil For nutty aroma and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch To thicken the sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil For stir-frying.

Garnish

  • 1 bunch Green onions, sliced For garnish and mild onion flavor.

Water

  • 2-3 tablespoons Water To adjust sauce consistency.

Instructions

  • Begin by preparing the ingredients. Slice the beef thinly against the grain for optimal tenderness. Chop the broccoli into bite-sized florets and set aside.
  • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Whisk until the cornstarch is fully dissolved. This mixture will serve as your sauce.
  • Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil. Allow the oil to heat until shimmering but not smoking.
  • Add the sliced beef to the pan in a single layer. Let it sear undisturbed for about 2 minutes until browned on one side, then stir-fry for an additional minute to cook through.
  • Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the pan and set it aside on a plate. This prevents overcooking and ensures it remains juicy.
  • In the same pan, add the minced garlic and broccoli florets. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, or until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp.
  • Add the cooked beef back into the pan with the broccoli. Pour the sauce over the mixture and stir to combine, allowing the sauce to thicken for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Ensure everything is well-coated with the sauce and heated through. You should observe a glossy appearance as the sauce clings to the beef and broccoli.
  • Once everything is heated and the sauce has thickened to your liking, remove the pan from the heat.
  • Serve the Simple Beef And Broccoli Stir-Fry immediately, garnished with sliced green onions for an extra burst of flavor.

Notes

For variations, consider adding red chili peppers for spice or additional vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas. Serve over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
