  • 1 cup Short-grain rice Rinsed to remove excess starch.
  • 4 cups Whole milk For a creamy base.
  • 2 medium Apples Peeled and chopped.
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar Adjust based on apple sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon Adds warmth and depth.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances flavors.
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter For richness.
  • few drops Natural vanilla flavoring Optional for added flavor.

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the short-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  • In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and whole milk. Heat over medium until simmering, stirring occasionally.
  • Reduce heat to low. Add sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir to dissolve.
  • Peeled and chop the apples into small pieces and fold them into the mixture.
  • Simmer gently for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently until rice is tender and mixture thickens.
  • Remove from heat and stir in butter until melted.
  • Add vanilla flavoring if using, and mix thoroughly.
  • Transfer to serving bowls and let cool slightly before serving.
  • Garnish with additional cinnamon or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

This pudding can be served warm or chilled. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
