Ingredients
  

Meat

  • 1 pound Ground Meat (beef or chicken) Forms the base of the casserole.

Potatoes

  • 4 cups Mashed Potatoes Can be homemade or store-bought.

Vegetables

  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped Adds depth of flavor.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Enhances overall flavor.
  • 1 cup Mixed Vegetables (peas, carrots, corn) For added nutrition and color.

Cheese

  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Creates a gooey topping.

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper Enhances flavor.
  • 1 cup Broth (chicken or vegetable) Keeps the meat moist.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Used in mashed potatoes.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground meat. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until onions are translucent.
  • If using mixed vegetables, stir them in and cook for another 3-5 minutes.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and stir in the broth. Allow to simmer for a few minutes.
  • Prepare mashed potatoes by boiling peeled and chopped potatoes until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk.
  • In a greased casserole dish, layer the meat mixture evenly at the bottom.
  • Spoon the mashed potatoes over the meat mixture, spreading evenly.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
