Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef Main protein for the filling.
  • 1 cup Sloppy Joe Sauce Store-bought or homemade sauce.
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese Any cheese that melts well.
  • 4 slices Bread Sourdough, Texas toast, or thick-cut white bread.
  • 2 tbsp Butter For frying the sandwiches.
  • 1 small Onion Optional, finely chopped.
  • 0.5 tsp Salt To taste.
  • 0.5 tsp Pepper To taste.

Instructions
 

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • If using, add chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Drain excess fat, then stir in sloppy joe sauce and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  • Prepare bread slices and spoon sloppy joe filling onto two slices. Top with shredded cheese.
  • Place remaining bread slices on top and press down gently.
  • Melt butter in the skillet and cook sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Remove from skillet, let sit for a minute, then cut in half and serve warm.

Notes

Customize with extra spices, vegetables, or different types of cheese.
