Instructions
Measure out 1 cup of long-grain rice using a measuring cup.
Rinse the rice under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear.
Transfer the rinsed rice into the Instant Pot.
Add 1 cup of water to the rice in the Instant Pot.
Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of salt over the mixture.
Add 1 tablespoon of oil or butter if desired.
Close the Instant Pot lid and set the steam release valve to sealing.
Select the 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' setting and set the timer for 4 minutes.
Allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure for 10 minutes after cooking.
Carefully switch the steam release valve to venting to release any remaining pressure.
Open the lid and fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
Notes
Store leftover rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
