Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, unsweetened applesauce, and molasses. Beat until smooth.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the hot water.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
