  • 4 cups All-purpose flour Adjust based on humidity.
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast To help the rolls rise.
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar Adds sweetness and activates yeast.
  • 1 cup Warm milk Between 100°F and 110°F.
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter Melted for flavor and texture.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor and controls fermentation.
  • 1 large Egg Adds richness and binds ingredients.

Instructions
 

  • 1. Activate the yeast by combining warm milk and sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg.
  • 3. Stir until the mixture comes together. If too sticky, add more flour gradually until manageable.
  • 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  • 6. Punch down the dough, divide into 12 pieces, and shape into balls.
  • 7. Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes until doubled.
  • 8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • 9. Brush tops with melted butter after baking. Let cool slightly before serving.
  • 10. Serve warm or store in an airtight container for up to three days.
