  • 1 cup Fresh Basil Leaves Loosely packed.
  • 2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil For drizzling.
  • 1 teaspoon Balsamic Vinegar Optional, for drizzling.
  • to taste Salt Sea salt preferred.
  • to taste Freshly Ground Black Pepper

Instructions
 

  • Select the freshest ingredients, including ripe tomatoes and high-quality mozzarella.
  • Wash the tomatoes under cool running water and pat them dry.
  • Slice the tomatoes into thick rounds, about half an inch thick.
  • Prepare the mozzarella by slicing it into rounds that match the thickness of the tomato slices.
  • Layer the salad by alternating slices of tomato and mozzarella on a serving platter, adding basil leaves in between.
  • Drizzle the olive oil generously over the salad.
  • If desired, drizzle balsamic vinegar over the salad.
  • Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  • Allow the salad to rest for a few minutes before serving at room temperature.

Notes

For variations, consider adding nuts, different herbs, or fruits like peaches for a unique twist.
