Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over low heat and let it cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add eggs one at a time, whisking vigorously after each addition.
  • If using, stir in vanilla extract.
  • Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt in another bowl.
  • Fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Pour brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Mix chopped pecans with corn syrup and a pinch of salt, then spread over the brownie batter.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Let cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
