Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking dish by greasing it lightly with butter or lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Add both granulated sugar and brown sugar to the melted butter, stirring until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually add this mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, stirring continuously.
  • In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the creamy peanut butter and chocolate chips if using.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Swirl additional peanut butter on top if desired.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow to cool in the baking dish for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
