Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 pieces Boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds)

Pasta

  • 1 cup Orzo pasta

Broth

  • 2 cups Chicken broth (low-sodium recommended)

Cream

  • 1 cup Heavy cream

Vegetables

  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced

Herbs and Spices

  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)

Seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Oil

  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, dried basil, and oregano.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to deglaze. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Add the orzo pasta to the simmering broth. Cook for about 8-10 minutes until al dente, stirring occasionally.
  • Reduce heat to low and slowly add the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, nestling it into the creamy orzo. Cook together for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or red pepper flakes as desired.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider marinating the chicken, adding vegetables, or using different herbs.
