Instructions
 

  • Gather all your ingredients on a clean countertop.
  • In a medium-sized saucepan, pour in 1 cup of fresh pineapple juice.
  • Add ½ cup of rice vinegar to the saucepan.
  • Incorporate ½ cup of packed brown sugar and stir gently.
  • Add ½ cup of ketchup and mix thoroughly.
  • Pour in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and combine well.
  • In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water until smooth.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently.
  • Reduce heat to low and let it cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Add garlic powder and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Slowly add the cornstarch slurry while continuously stirring until thickened.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before serving or storing.
