Instructions
Chop one medium onion finely and mince two to three cloves of garlic. Set aside.
In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil. Add a pinch of salt and cook 400 grams of spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
While the spaghetti cooks, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
Add 500 grams of ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks. Sauté until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Drain excess fat from the skillet.
Add 400 grams of crushed tomatoes and 1 tablespoon of tomato paste to the skillet. Stir to combine.
Season with 1 teaspoon of oregano, 1 teaspoon of basil, and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a gentle simmer.
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Once spaghetti is cooked, drain and rinse briefly with cold water.
Adjust seasoning of the sauce if necessary. If using fresh basil, add it now.
Serve spaghetti topped with the meat sauce. Optionally garnish with cheese or herbs.
Enjoy your meal while hot!
Notes
Consider adding vegetables or spices to customize the sauce.
