Instructions
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Brown the beef for about 5 minutes.
Drain excess fat, leaving about a tablespoon, then add sliced onions to the skillet.
Cook onions with beef for 10-12 minutes until caramelized.
Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping the pan to release browned bits.
Add brown sugar, salt, and pepper, and let simmer for 5 minutes.
Toast the hamburger buns lightly.
Stir in half of the shredded cheese into the beef mixture.
Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun and top with remaining cheese.
Place the top half of the bun on each sandwich and serve hot.
Notes
