  • 1 pound Ground Beef Use lean ground beef with 80/20 fat content.
  • 2 large Yellow Onions Sliced thinly.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 0.5 cup Beef Broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese Mozzarella or provolone.
  • 4 pieces Hamburger Buns Soft buns for serving.

Instructions
 

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Brown the beef for about 5 minutes.
  • Drain excess fat, leaving about a tablespoon, then add sliced onions to the skillet.
  • Cook onions with beef for 10-12 minutes until caramelized.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping the pan to release browned bits.
  • Add brown sugar, salt, and pepper, and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Toast the hamburger buns lightly.
  • Stir in half of the shredded cheese into the beef mixture.
  • Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun and top with remaining cheese.
  • Place the top half of the bun on each sandwich and serve hot.

Notes

Consider garnishing with fresh herbs or additional caramelized onions.
