  • 1 cup Granulated sugar The star ingredient for sweetness and caramel flavor.
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter Adds richness and smooth texture.
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream Contributes to the sauce's consistency and mouthfeel.

Instructions
 

  • Measure out 1 cup of granulated sugar.
  • In a medium-sized, heavy-bottomed saucepan, add the measured sugar and place over medium heat.
  • Stir gently with a wooden spoon as the sugar begins to melt.
  • Watch for the sugar to turn a rich amber hue, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat once the desired color is reached.
  • Add 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter to the saucepan and stir until melted.
  • Carefully pour in 1/2 cup of heavy cream while stirring continuously.
  • Return to low heat if necessary to dissolve any remaining sugar crystals.
  • Allow the caramel to cool slightly before transferring it to a glass jar.
  • Let it cool to room temperature before sealing and storing in the refrigerator.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Reheat gently before serving.
