Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced apples with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Toss until well coated and set aside for 10 minutes.
In another bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until blended.
Melt the butter and let it cool slightly. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and mix until smooth.
Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Gently fold the apple mixture into the batter.
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
Bake for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Serve warm, optionally with whipped cream or ice cream.
