Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3-4 pounds Beef Brisket Ideal cut for slow cooking.
  • 2 medium Onions Sliced thinly.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 2 cups Low-Sodium Beef Broth
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar Adds sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire Sauce Provides umami flavor.

Spices

  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Herbs

  • 2 leaves Bay Leaves Remove before serving.

Vegetables

  • 2 medium Carrots Sliced into rounds.
  • 3 medium Potatoes Cut into chunks, optional.

Instructions

  • Prepare your ingredients by gathering all components listed above.
  • Trim the brisket of excess fat, leaving about a quarter-inch layer.
  • Season the brisket generously with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika on both sides.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sear the brisket for about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • Set the brisket aside to rest. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and minced garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes.
  • In your slow cooker, layer the sautéed onions and garlic at the bottom. Place the seared brisket on top, fat side up.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar, stirring until dissolved. Pour over the brisket.
  • Add the sliced carrots and potatoes around the brisket, ensuring they are nestled in the liquid.
  • Drop in the bay leaves and cover the slow cooker. Set it to low and cook for 8-10 hours.
  • Once done, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
  • Strain the cooking liquid to make a sauce if desired, then slice the brisket against the grain and serve.

Notes

For variations, consider adding jalapeños for spice or using different herbs for flavor.
