Ingredients
  

Meat

  • 1 pound Ground Beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.

Canned Tomatoes

  • 2 cans Diced Tomatoes Each can should be 14.5 ounces.

Vegetables

  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced.

Oils

  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Extra virgin for best flavor.

Spices

  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly ground.
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar To balance acidity.

Garnish

  • to taste Fresh Basil Optional, for garnish.

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  • Add chopped onion and sauté for 4-5 minutes until translucent.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  • Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned (6-8 minutes).
  • Drain excess fat if necessary, then stir in diced tomatoes with juices.
  • Add Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Bring to a simmer, reduce heat, and cook uncovered for at least 30 minutes.
  • Adjust seasoning as needed, adding more sugar if too acidic.
  • Cook spaghetti according to package instructions, then drain.
  • Toss spaghetti with the meat sauce until well coated.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil and grated cheese if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Can be frozen for up to three months.
