Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter At room temperature for richness.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Provides sweetness.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar Adds moisture and caramel flavor.
  • 2 large eggs Provides moisture and binding.
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract Adds depth to flavor.

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Provides rich chocolate flavor.

Instructions
 

  • 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • 2. Prepare your baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it.
  • 3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • 4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
  • 5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add vanilla.
  • 6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • 7. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  • 8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  • 9. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • 10. Allow to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • 11. Once cooled, cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
