Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped cherries using a spatula.
  • Drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers still appear soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
