Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, and egg. Mix gently until just combined.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, mixing gently until evenly distributed.
Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
Take a handful of the mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place about 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese in the center.
Fold the edges of the meat over the cheese and shape into a ball or oval.
Repeat until all ingredients are used, yielding about 12-15 bites.
Place the bites on a greased baking sheet or fry in a skillet with olive oil over medium heat.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
Let them rest for a few minutes before serving warm.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
