Instructions
Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the package of your frozen French fries (typically around 425°F or 220°C).
Peel and thinly slice the onions into half-moon shapes.
In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
Add the sliced onions to the skillet and stir gently to coat.
Cook the onions over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until they soften and turn light golden.
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Pour in the beef broth and continue cooking for another 5-10 minutes until the liquid has mostly evaporated and the onions are deeply caramelized.
Spread the frozen French fries on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake according to package instructions (about 20-25 minutes).
Once the fries are cooked, sprinkle the shredded cheese over them while hot.
Top the fries with the caramelized onions and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
Garnish with fresh herbs and serve immediately.
Notes
For variations, consider adding crushed red pepper flakes for spice or using different cheese blends.
