  • 1 loaf French Bread A good quality loaf, about 12-16 inches long.
  • 1 lb Thinly Sliced Steak Ribeye or sirloin works best.
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese Provolone or cheddar, or a mix of both.
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter Mixed with minced garlic for flavor.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced for the garlic butter.
  • 1 cup Bell Peppers Finely chopped.
  • 1 cup Onions Finely chopped.
  • 1 tsp Salt To taste.
  • 1 tsp Pepper To taste.
  • 1 tbsp Parsley Chopped, for garnish (optional).

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the garlic butter by melting the butter with minced garlic in a saucepan over low heat for 2-3 minutes.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the thinly sliced steak for 2-3 minutes per side. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Remove the steak and let it rest. In the same skillet, sauté the chopped bell peppers and onions for 5-7 minutes.
  • Return the sliced steak to the skillet, stir in one cup of shredded cheese, and mix until melted.
  • Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and scoop out some of the soft bread.
  • Brush the garlic butter generously over the cut sides of the bread.
  • Fill the bread with the cheesesteak mixture and top with remaining cheese.
  • Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  • Let cool for a few minutes, slice, and garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
