Instructions
 

  • 1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  • 2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • 3. Increase heat to medium-high, add ground beef, and cook for 7-10 minutes until browned.
  • 4. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  • 5. Add crushed tomatoes and beef broth or water. Stir to combine.
  • 6. Add oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and bay leaf. Bring to a simmer.
  • 7. Reduce heat to low, cover partially, and simmer for at least 30 minutes.
  • 8. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.
  • 9. Adjust seasoning of the sauce as needed. If too thick, add reserved pasta water.
  • 10. Serve spaghetti topped with Bolognese sauce, garnished with parsley and Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

For variations, consider mixing ground meats, adding more vegetables, or using lentils as a meat substitute.
