  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg Adds depth and warmth.
  • ½ cup honey Sweetener for the filling.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances overall flavor.
  • ½ cup water Used to dissolve the yeast.

Instructions
 

  • 1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and yeast in a bowl. Let sit until frothy.
  • 2. In a mixing bowl, whisk flour, sugar, and salt. Add yeast mixture, melted butter, milk, and eggs.
  • 3. Mix until a shaggy dough forms, then knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • 4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  • 5. Prepare filling by mixing chopped nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • 6. Roll risen dough into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle nut mixture.
  • 7. Roll dough tightly, cut in half lengthwise, and twist halves together.
  • 8. Shape into a bun, place in a greased dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • 9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  • 10. Prepare honey syrup by heating honey and a splash of water until combined.
  • 11. Brush baked buns with honey syrup and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

These buns can be customized with different nuts or spices. Serve warm or at room temperature.
