Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large pot, cook the tortellini according to the package instructions until al dente, about 3-5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Layer half of the cooked tortellini over the marinara sauce, then dollop half of the ricotta mixture over the tortellini.
Sprinkle one cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the ricotta layer, followed by a third of the remaining marinara sauce.
Repeat the layering process with the remaining tortellini, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and marinara sauce. Finish with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Let the dish cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
